Influenster kindly sent me another Marc Jacobs Beauty VoxBox to review (compliments of Marc Jacobs Beauty). My first Marc Beauty VoxBox was the Highliner Matte Gel Eye Crayon and now the much highly anticipated Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter.
About the Product
Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter is a Gel/Cream base, warm-radiant highlighter, with a light coconut scent.
According to the product website, Dew Drops was inspired by Marc Jacobs “love of coconut water and a radiant complexion. The five forms of Coconut infused into Dew Drops highlighter benefit the skin in the following ways” :
- COCONUT ALKANES – HELP WITH LONGWEAR
- COCONUT MILK – HELPS DEEPLY HYDRATE
- COCONUT WATER – PROVIDES REFRESHING ELECTROLYTES
- COCONUT POLYSACCHARIDES – HELP CONDITION
- COCONUT FRAGRANCE – LIGHTLY SCENT
After reading other reviews, I decided to first mix it with my foundation before applying (MAC Studio Finish). That didn’t work well for me. Initially it gave me a nice, warm peachy glow, but then I noticed around lunch time that my foundation started to appear a bit oranish and cakey (oxidized)
So the next morning (after applying foundation and concealer) I applied in dots up the side of my cheekbones and blended with a makeup sponge. This time I also used a setting powder where I applied the Dew Drops Highlighter. My makeup appeared ten times better and lasted throughout the day without oxidizing.
A little does go a long way and it dries rather quick, so make sure to blend well. 1-2 pumps is really all you need .
Too early for me to say “I’m hooked”. I am interested to see how the product withstands the warmer weather.
Update (4-16) – Dew Drops is officially one of my “holy grail” products. After my initial mishap mixing Dew Drops with foundation, my expectations weren’t set too high. I’ve now used it every single day since and absolutely love how my skin glows! Also, it did not make my skin look oily or overly shiny after minimal sweating. (I nearly roasted to death in my bedroom while getting ready without a fan). I did apply some banana powder just in case.
Do you have a favorite liquid highlighter? xo Nicole
